comment on the Ulysses Grant memorial...movie
I think its one of the most difficult, complex years we will have in history. The most frustrating and painful to live through everyday for different people psychologically. Someone across the way could have been a slave holder, between the north and south borders and their you are in your home. The complexities that people lived through everyday disagreeing, feeling unsafe(fear), lacking their rights of freedom against slavery of any specification is even today mentally tough to understand. The ideas that structured slavery are always a struggle, even today. People died because other people believed and supported the ideas of slavery. Hatred--you have to ask yourself when is hatred rational ? I wish I could write more, be here in these moments more in my mind and understanding...the way the south lived with Africans in their houses, their ways of treating other people, their way of living is difficult to put into words. A man married in the south and having sexual relations with a African slave because...what can you do? Human existence is never as good as it should be, they lived so broken. Like ""Silence of the lambs"" they held fast to and coveted what people saw, houses, clothing, riches. I go through this all the time...so how in some way everyday. The depth of hatred has been earned not delusional as far as the irrationality of men and slavery...etc
